QBQ! The Question Behind the Question
i recently finished QBQ! The Question Behind the Question by John G Miller. if i ever write a book, i’d image it’d be kinda like this one, in that the author jumps all over the place (39 chapters in 128 pages). other than being a bit ADD, it was a decent read… easy to follow, fast (took about an hour to get through), not really thought provoking (mostly common-sense type stuff), poked fun at a PI attorney and used a single engine power failure over lake michigan story to illustrate handling stressful situations.
here’s what i took away from it:
- seek to communicate your point as effectively as possible and, if you aren’t communicating clearly, you probably need to present your information differently
- ask “what” and “how” questions instead of “why”
- don’t push blame: fix the problem, don’t affix the blame
- you can only change yourself
- take action: it’s a waste to learn and not implement what you learn
