two things: i’ve got to get my hands on a wii. played one for the first time today at work (… yes, work) and have to get one. don’t know how it works, but it does - and it’s cool. which leads me to my second point…
i went looking for said wii at gamestop, just down from our house in the ‘ville. walked in and immediately to my right, i saw guitar hero. everyone and their mother has been telling me about this game. so, i started trying to figure out the demo. the only other person in the store (save for the sale rep) was a 10-12 year old dude. he came up and reached for the guitar as i was getting my game set up. he proceeded to show me how it works and i was wailing in no time to alice in chains — something my friend David (hiswebsites) actually did… in real life.
back to my story… (which is significantly less awesome compared with David rocking with and hanging out with Alice in Chains)…
whilst attempting to rock out, the young dude and i were talking and, i don’t remember all details, but he randomly asked me what i did. without hesitation, i told him i was a drummer in a rock band. he got all big eyed and said this awesome quote… “i want to be a drummer in a band when i grow up.” respect. i told him what i tell everyone that says that, or something similar, about the drums…
thousands of people died, were wounded, or when missing on this date in 1944 during one of the most decisive battles of World War II - the Battle of Normandy, commonly known as D-day.
i am very, very blessed to have the opportunity to serve often in Jamaica. this year has been an exceptionally awesome one, as i’l be travelling back down soon. plans are underway for both groups and things are going as well as you can expect - “flexibility” is both a running joke and an absolute must. had a few surprises yesterday on one of my many calls to the island… but everything is cool.
my buddy jeremy is a HUGE example for me and i’m thankful to call him my friend. i’m learning a great deal from him - like i did last year from both him and megan - especially when it comes to preparation.
here’s a verse we memorized for last night - it hit me bigtime:
Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible… To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. - I Cor. 9:19, 22-23
my good friend, von, jumped out of a plane last week. check it out.
respect.
i’m going to follow his lead - as well as gingles (who’s been talking this up for years) - and make this happen for me … as soon as i’m able to convince my bride to let me.
one of our fans / friends, thedanyellow, hooked up a few videos from our show at the end in nashville a few weeks ago. thanks to the goodness that is YouTube, you can watch / listen to Losers’ Day Parade at the top of the site.
my good friend brian, and his wife, just took a trip out to seattle… check out their adventures. i’ve been out there twice and haven’t done half of what they did!
if you haven’t watched the above youtube video… you should do it. one heck of a cool birthday surprise/present from some of my best friends in the world…
UPDATE: I’ve attached the video below, since I updated the header video recently… enjoy!
holaway has a killer blog. so good, in-fact, that my bride told me i had to kick my site up a notch. yes, i’m a professional online marketing / web dude by trade, but therein lies the problem… i don’t have time to mess with it.
thanks to the goodness of WordPress, this update as been a piece of cake. i updated the backend to the most recent version of WP (which was accomplished in two clicks - thanks to dreamhost), found a sweet template, uploaded it, changed 2 images in it, uploaded photos for the slideshow, linked to youtube and added a few widgets. gotta love it.
my bride says i have to be funny and not serious all the time… everyone knows how i’m always so serious… : )
